    Recently converted from a Quality Suites, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Montreal Airport breaths fresh life into a building featuring 162 guest suites.

    The hotel's best feature may be access to the Trans Canada Highway, local mall and a ten minute drive to Dorval's PE Trudeau Airport (YUL).  For anyone with business at Bombardier or Bell Helicopter Canada, the hotel is 45-50 minutes away from Montreal Mirabel Airport (YMX), as traffic is usually an issue on this route.

    It took us about 30-minutes to reach downtown Montreal Centre Ville in fairly heavy traffic and seemingly never ending construction.

    Being a rebrand of the Quality Suites you really don't get any of the signature design elements that make an Embassy Suites.  Gone is the space killing atrium of Embassy's first phase and this building resembles more of Embassy's current phase 3 prototype that features a more traditional hotel layout.

    Not missed are the signature Embassy offerings of manager's reception and breakfast.  One let down with the reception was the receipt-like coupon print outs with highly restricted beverage offerings.   Complimentary beverages were:
    =====
    Molson
    Colors Light
    Chardonnay
    Merlot
    =====
    Everything else a $5 up charge!  Add to it, the reception bar was extremely crowded and the one bartender and one server were overwhelmed.  One server would be gone for dozens of minutes as they apparently still burdened staff with room service orders.  But as a guest to a free reception you get what you pay for, eh?

    I found the check in agent to be less than friendly and have extremely bad breath.  So much so that I had to take steps back when interacting with them.

    My guest room was contrary to my HHonors profile and extremely far away from the elevator closest to the highway.  I'm not a light sleeper by any means and even I found highway exterior noise and hotel hallway noise very bothersome.

    The first impression of the room was very modern and very clean.  I was pleased with the way they still give a small Embassy suite feel despite the smaller footprint of the room from it's previous incarnation.

    Loved that the room did not have carpet.  The entire floor surface was laminate.  It has a sharp look and a clean feel and it's not going to show stains as easy as carpeting.

    In-suite there's a mini bar and mini fridge which are great for keeping food and beverage cool.  Their work desk doubled as my dinner table.  Entertainment wise they have 2 50-inch TVs with wide variety of channels.  They offer complimentary WiFi, but it was so slow, such terrible latency, it was basically unusable.  I had to phone colleagues in the States to download materials critical to our work because the WiFi was so absolutely horrific at this property.

    Food wise found the manager's reception to be a big disappointment, I would not return.  This also made me skip the breakfast.  They could really use some help with service.

    Across the highway from the hotel is a Keg Steakhouse.  Surprisingly they need reservations.  Even midweek.  Seems it's the only decent restaurant for a lot of the airport hotels.

    One big negative was the shower and bathroom experience.  The room had a small circular toilet bowl and not an elongated bowl.  The shower's water pressure was really weak. Pack your own hair dryer as their's is really low energy.  Low powered and relatively useless.

    This is not a typical Embassy Suite.  The building had to be originally another brand... there is no open atrium... this feels like a hotel.

    A plus... rooms are not carpeted.  Less allergens and dust... no noisy vacuuming when trying to sleep in.

    Hotel is clean and neat.

    There is a problem with parking though.   As a heads up, the parking lot at therr front of hotel is fot therr business building across the lo uit.   There are no signs directing where you can and cannot park.

    Note the hotel is near the highway,  so it's a bit loud.   You can hear trucks all night long so getting a good nights sleep is hard for light sleepers.

    Breakfast is included,  but you will need your voucher.  There has to be a better and greener way to account for breakfast.   Printing a voucher for  each person for each day is wasteful.  Perhaps a dining card that is marked.  Other than that, the food is good and hot.   Cannot beat a cooked to order breakfast.   However the lady behind the omelet station is very rude and do not treat all guests equally.

    There is a token operated laundry.   You will need to purchase the tokens at the front desk.  Currently its 3CAD to was or dry.  While there, another guest took up both dryers and did not come back for items for well over an hour after they were done.   Front desk staff failed to notify us when it was unoccupied as promised; moreover front desk failed to prevent another guest from placing 5 large bags of laundry in the hallway by the laundry door thus creating a potential tripping hazard.

    Let me add... the Housekeeping staff is really awesome.   The are quick and friendly and very responsive to requests.   Kudos to them.

    Hotel is nice and new however the service is awful and most (not all) of the staff is incompetent and couldn't care less about making your stay pleasant. There are too many examples to list of incompetence. The restaurant wasn't bad bad but the kitchen gets busy and they shut down room service. The literally cancel room service and tell you to go elsewhere. I've never heard of a hotel cancelling room service bc they are busy. What a bust-- stay away unless you literally arrive late, sleep and leave the next day.
